Family Intensive Overview

Our intensive is designed off of the Trust Based Relational Intervention model by Karyn Purvis. We work to heal the hurts, learn to use our words appropriately, in order to get what we want successfully. By the end of the intensive both parents and children will have the communication and emotional regulation tools for successful, relationship building communication.

We evaluate:

  • Each person and identify their needs that are specific to them

  • Identify any “t” or “T” traumas that may be affecting an individual and their ability to participate in family

  • Repair hurts between family members

  • Identify family roles and how each role affects family communication

  • Educate about how the brain processes information and apply it to individual evaluations

  • Teach family a new way of communicating in a safe way and introduce TBRI

  • Experience sensory processing and each family member develops their sensory box

  • Create a safe place for families to resolve conflict

Our family intensive is designed to be a total family intervention to:

1) Identify what is going on in a family that is preventing healthy communication. We evaluate each person and identify how their brain is processing information. If someone has anything they think has been traumatic in their history that is affecting their ability to communicate in a healthy way with other people, we will try and identify it and give a separate recommended treatment plan for follow up after the intensive.

2)   Educate each family member about how their brain works, how to recognize their own needs, and how to communicate their needs appropriately in order to get their needs met enough.

3)  Experiential family therapy that gives each member of the family the tools and skills to interact in the family and as a family. These groups throughout the intensive are fun and healing for the entire family.

4)  Parents have a plan! Entire family understands what the parents job is and what the child's job is and how to stay safe while appropriately communicating. Household peace is in sight.

Please note: Our Intensive does not provide lodging. We have give you several recommendations on lodging if needed. Ask our staff for more details when you call to register.

Assessments

Each person has different needs that can have a significant impact on being in relationship with another person. Our intake process asks a lot of very personal and intrusive information about each family member so that we can help you know what your roadmap for healing looks like. We test for depression, anxiety, trauma,  self-harm,  attachment, and sensory processing.

Because we give treatment roadmap for each person in the family. There needs to be at least a week in between the initial intake and the treatment planing session. Then 2 weeks before we can do the intensive. This allows us the time to make sure you get the most personalized treatment plan during your intensive experience insuring that your family gets what they need.
